I am very pleased to introduce to you, distinguished readers, the second collection of papers entitled “Vietnam’s Foreign Policy and External Relations”. The first collection called “Vietnamese and International Studies: an approach” was also published by Thế Giới in 2009. The second collection, 2018, consists of twelve papers that were published after 2009 in prestigious journals such as “International relations of the Asia-Pacific”, “Asia Europe Journal”, “Asia-Pacific Review”, and “East Asia Forum”
The second collection is divided into three main parts.
The first part consists of three papers focusing mainly on tertiary education of international relations and European studies in Vietnam, its characteristics, opportunities and challenges. You find in this part my review on Prof. David Marr’s recent book Vietnam: State, War, Revolution (1945-1946).
The second part of the book focuses on two issues: the challenges to security of the Asia-Pacific such as the South China Sea (Biển Đông in Vietnamese) dispute, the environment and architecture of security; and cooperation and the role of nation states in the region, together with Vietnam, within multilateral mechanisms such as ASEAN.
